Mavs trade party: Examining 10 of your ideas and why they (mostly) won’t work

New York Times

The internet wants to talk about trade ideas. This trade would be a statement that you believe Hield is younger and better than Hardaway, that you’re committing to him as a third option beside Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. This would also bring in a marginally better offensive player who doesn’t improve the team in the two obvious ways we think it could improve at: defense and ball handling. Wright isn’t nearly valuable enough to move up into the lottery – there’s no chance Dallas does that – but this seemed noteworthy since Sacramento is one team that could simply absorb Wright into space. I’m not desperate to deal Wright; I actually think if he remained on the team, he would play a regular, productive role next season, even if it wasn’t guaranteed minutes every single game.
