Collectors hoist national flag and inspect guard of honour

Distribution of welfare aid and honouring the freedom fighters and government officials marked the 66th Independence day celebrations held in Dindigul and Theni districts here on Wednesday. In Dindigul, Collector N. Venkatachalam hoisted national flag at 9.30 a.m. and took the police salute at district sports stadium near the Collectorate. Later, the Collector honoured freedom fighters with shawl and mementoes, distributed certificates to best performing police and government officials and gave away welfare aid worth Rs.45.02 lakh to 103 beneficiaries. Palanisamy hoisted the national flag and took the police salute at the district sports stadium near the Collectorate in the morning.
