Betelgeuse, star doomed to explode anytime, eclipsed by asteroid in deep space

Astronomy enthusiasts across Europe had their telescopes trained on the night sky in anticipation of a significant celestial event—the occultation of Betelgeuse by asteroid Leona. Betelgeuse was supposed to dim at least 3 magnitudes when asteroid Leona passed in front of it. Betelgeuse, a red supergiant star located in the constellation Orion, was expected to dim significantly — by at least three magnitudes — as asteroid Leona passed in front of it. As the astronomy community continues to analyse data from various observation points across Europe, further reports are expected to shed light on the nuances of this cosmic encounter.
