C Raj Kumar | New education panel will help implement NEP more effectively
Deccan ChronicleIt has been a year since the National Education Policy 2020 was announced by the Government of India. The vision of the NEP 2020 was crystalised in these words: “This National Education Policy envisions an education system rooted in Indian ethos that contributes directly to transforming India, that is Bharat, sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society, by providing high-quality education to all, and thereby making India a global knowledge superpower.” Few would argue on the aspiration that is embedded in these words. It is important that we put in place the following five institutional mechanisms under the aegis of the proposed National Education Policy Commission that will help in the implementation of the NEP: 1. The establishment of the National Education Policy Commission within the education ministry of the Government of India is a step in the right direction that will provide new impetus to the efforts that are needed for the implementation of the NEP. The first anniversary of the launch of the NEP should create a certain degree of expediency to focus on our collective efforts towards the effective implementation of the National Education Policy.
