'Ungrateful people': GOP candidate marks Juneteenth by telling Black people to leave U.S.

Raw Story

Republican Missouri Secretary of State candidate Valentina Gomez chose to celebrate Juneteenth by posting a video urging Black people to get out of America. "Reparations from slavery and black victimization is about to be shoved down our throats for the most wretched holiday in America," said Gomez in the video. Many prominent Republicans have attacked the holiday since then, however, with far-right commentator Candace Owens trashing it as a "ghetto holiday." In February, she posted a video of herself using a flamethrower to torch library books with LGBTQ themes, proclaiming, "This is what I will do to the grooming books when I am Secretary of State."
