News 18Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar will pay a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on May 22, 2024 to attend the official ceremony to pay condolences on the tragic demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Dr Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials in an unfortunate helicopter crash. Condoling the death of Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, PM Modi took to X and wrote, “Deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic demise of Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Meanwhile, a one-day state mourning is also being observed across India on May 21 as a mark of respect for President Ebrahim Raisi. The Iranian President, the country’s Foreign Minister and several other officials were found dead on May 20, hours after their helicopter crashed in a foggy, mountainous region of the country’s northwest, Iran state media reported.
