Fact Check: Video game footage mistaken for Ukrainian missile attack on Russian tanks — once again!

India Today

Almost eight months in, as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues, Russian General Sergei Surovikin admitted on October 18 that the situation in areas Russia claims to have annexed was 'tensed'. As the war rages on, a video allegedly showing a Ukrainian missile attack on Russian tanks has been widely shared. AFWA found that this video is not authentic footage from Ukraine, but from a video game called Arma 3 — a video game whose videos have been mistaken for war footage over the years. AFWA Probe A keyword search about Ukraine firing at Russian Tanks with Javelin missiles took us to a YouTube video on a channel called “MILMAN”. In fact, footage of Ukrainian troops blowing up a Russian tank attack to smithereens using American Javelin anti-tank guided missiles has made the news earlier this year.
