AAP says BJP's Parvesh Verma violated election norms, poll body orders inquiry
India TodayThe Election Commission of India has instructed the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi to investigate a complaint filed by the Aam Aadmi Party against Parvesh Verma, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from the New Delhi Assembly constituency. AAP has accused Verma of violating the Model Code of Conduct during his election campaign, alleging irregular practices, including the distribution of campaign materials and monetary incentives under a "Har Ghar Naukri" scheme. The ECI's letter, addressed to the CEO, noted, "I am directed to request you to get the complaint inquired into, ascertain the actual facts and take immediate appropriate action in accordance with the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct, electoral laws, and the extant guidelines of the Election Commission of India. "We pointed out that Parvesh Verma, in the New Delhi seat, is openly distributing money, and health camps are being held with glasses being distributed.
