BSNL orders compulsory retirement for Kerala activist Rehana Fathima over Sabarimala incident

Kerala activist Rehana Fathima has been asked to take compulsory retirement from BSNL for attempting to enter Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala. The order by BSNL said her attempt to enter Sabarimala temple has “spoiled the reputation” of the company among customers and asked her to take compulsory retirement. BSNL also mentioned the her “intentional” act of outraging religious feelings of devotees has also tarnished the reputation of the company. The controversy had erupted in Kerala after Fathima made an attempt to enter the Sabarimala temple when it was opened for monthly puja in October 2018 following the Supreme Court order allowing entry of women in the age group of 10-50.
