Several parts of the Cauvery delta districts received moderate to heavy rain on Thursday under the influence of the well marked low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. After receiving heavy to very heavy overnight rain, parts of Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam districts continued to receive heavy rain during the day on Thursday. However, water from the fields had been draining quickly and the crops would recover if there was no heavy rain, officials in Nagapattinam district said. However, if heavy rain continued over the next few days, we may face some problems,” said Cauvery Dhanapalan, a farmers’ leader of Nagapattinam district.
