Integrated bus terminal project at Karikkamury gets a boost
The integrated bus terminal project mulled at Karikkamury has got a boost, with the executive committee meeting of Vyttila Mobility Hub Society deciding on Wednesday to hand over land at the mobility hub to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation as a barter for 1.90 acres of similar value owned by the KSRTC near the Ernakulam bus depot, at Karikkamury. While acknowledging the role played by, among others, Industries Minister P. Rajeeve in resolving inter-departmental issues that had delayed the land barter, Ernakulam MLA T.J. Vinod said the construction of Cochin Smart Mission Limited-funded ₹12-crore-worth first phase of the integrated bus stand project would begin once the tender process was over. The initial plan was to commence work on the integrated bus terminal project in January. The main building that houses the bus depot would be dismantled once the integrated bus terminal is completed.
