Buoyed by big win against Kyrgyz Republic, India hopes for another commanding show
The HinduBuoyed by its comprehensive 5-0 victory against the Kyrgyz Republic in the first game of the AFC Olympic Qualifiers Round 1, the Indian women’s team will hope to build on the momentum when it takes on the hosts in the second leg here on Friday. The Thomas Dennerby-coached Indian side had returned to winning ways after five disappointing results in the first three months of the year, defeating the Kyrgyz Republic at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium on Tuesday in the first of the two-legged Group G tie. With four different players finding the back of the net, there’s renewed enthusiasm in the side that they can come up with another commanding performance when the two teams meet in the second leg. “In the first game, we were desperate for goals, because we had gone in without many of our big goal scorers,” Dennerby said.
