The Hindu

Water leakage has been reported at the Taj Mahal, a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site in Agra which witnessed constant rain for the past three days. The Archaeological Survey of India authorities said that there is no damage to the heritage structure even as the garden adjacent to the 17th century mausoleum remains submerged. Social media users argued as even most iconic building is at risk, it highlights need of smarter architecture and planning for protecting heritage structures. Agra, a historic city located 200 kilometers from New Delhi which houses apart from Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra Fort, Mehtab Bagh and Jhunjhun Ka Katora witnessed heavy rainfall since Thursday, leading to flooding in parts of the city, including the premises of the Taj Mahal.
