
Terming it roadmap for growth, Omar Abdullah presents J&K’s first budget in 7 years with ₹1.12 lakh crore outlay
The HinduJammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday presented ₹1.12 lakh budget for the newly-carved Union Territory and announced a slew of sops for the poorest of the poor and free rides on government buses for women. It is a roadmap for a new and prosperous J&K, reflecting the aspirations of our people and laying a strong foundation for economic growth, social progress, and sustainable development,” Mr. Abdullah said. “Enhancement in pension amounts, benefiting 10,07,324 individuals across J&K,” Mr. Abdullah said. Allocating ₹390.20 crore for the tourism sector, Mr. Abdullah said, “Our goal is to increase tourism’s contribution to Gross State Domestic Product from 7% to at least 15% over the next 4 to 5 years”.
