Currently, a 5 per cent tax is levied on total income between â¹2.5 lakh and â¹5 lakh, 10 per cent on â¹5 lakh to â¹7.5 lakh, 15 per cent on â¹7.5 lakh to â¹10 lakh, 20 per cent on â¹10 lakh to â¹12.5 lakh, 25 per cent on â¹12.5 lakh to â¹15 lakh, and 30 per cent on above â¹15 lakh. Under the previous tax system, income between 2.5 and 5 lakh rupees is subject to a 5% tax rate.
