Supreme Court issues notice to Centre, ED on plea challenging Sections 50 & 63 of PMLA

The notice from the top court comes close on the heels of another set of petitions filed by 14 political parties in the Supreme Court, alleging arbitrary use of central investigating agencies such as the ED and CBI in arresting opposition leaders. The petition has also challenged Section 63 of the PMLA, which says that giving a false statement is an offence and states that the judgment in Vijay Madanlal Choudhary vs Union of India was passed without due regard, and the issue of legality of Section 50 and Section 63 of the PMLA needed to be settled by a larger constitutional bench of the Supreme Court.
