SpaDeX satellite separation delayed by three seconds. How it will affect docking
The Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully launched its ambitious SpaDeX mission, aimed at demonstrating advanced space docking technology. This capability is crucial for future missions involving satellite servicing and the establishment of India's own space station, as well as potential lunar exploration endeavours. However, it is worth mentioning that, while it is true that satellites in low-Earth orbit typically travel at speeds exceeding 28,800 km/h relative to the Earth's surface, this speed is relative to the planet, not between the two satellites. ISRO's success in this mission would position India among an elite group of nations proficient in space docking technology, joining the ranks of the United States, Russia, and China.
