Teachers' unions still angry after meeting with Scott Morrison over coronavirus school closures

Angry teachers' unions worried about the health of their members remain unhappy after a meeting between Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the Australian Education Union. Key points: The Morrison Government wants schools to remain open for all working parents Experts maintain the safest option amid the outbreak is to keep schools open Teachers unions want vulnerable staff to be able to work from home The union has been issuing a series of escalating threats as many teachers fear keeping schools open poses an unjustifiable health risk. The AEU is yet to respond to Mr Morrison's comments, but shortly before the Prime Minister spoke, the NSW Teachers Federation expressed frustration with the Commonwealth. Flexible arrangements are in place for school staff to ensure effective minimum supervision and the further ongoing development of online educational material for students not at schools," said the NSW Teachers Federation Executive.
