Tesla declines in popularity in NL, both new and second hand

The Tesla Model 3 is no longer the second most popular second-hand car in the Netherlands, having dropped to fourth place behind Hyundai, Volvo, and Audi, according to second-hand car website Gaspedaal.nl. In 2023 and 2024, the Tesla Model Y was the best-selling new car in the Netherlands, with just under 2,000 registered last November. “We’ve become used to Teslas dominating the electric car market, but other brands have made significant gains,” said Gaspedaal.nl spokesman Jasper Verweij. Of panel Tesla owners, 30% said they have either recently sold their car or are planning to do so, and 40% said they feel embarrassed about owning one.
