A growing number of people are identifying as LGBTQ, but the pandemic’s effect on household labour in same-gender and queer couples remains understudied. In a study comparing lesbian and gay male couples in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and the UK, researchers found that countries reporting higher levels of gender egalitarianism, as measured by women’s economic participation, also found more equality in same-gender couples’ domestic labour division.
