Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan grinders took the long way back. Now the biggest step: Beating Ohio State

In spring, the mood among those who know what they’re talking about was hopeful. But, to quote one former Michigan player — a teammate of Harbaugh’s from way back — the mood changed when practice observers started to see things from the old days. But if Blake Corum is healthy enough to play next week, the number of things Ohio State has to prepare for from Michigan’s offensive backfield goes up by that much. If you’re Michigan’s offensive staff, your plan entering this week was to make sure Ohio State had to concern itself with as much space on the field defensively as possible. For Michigan, though, the biggest challenge in this game is the same as it is for everybody else: figuring out how to not get avalanched by Ohio State’s offense.
