Nestle 'unhealthy' food controversy: Looking back at the Maggi Noodles crisis in India

India Today

The world’s largest consumer food and beverages company Nestle has been facing criticism after an internal presentation revealed that a majority of its mainstream food and beverages portfolio is unhealthy. However, the controversy grew when the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India asked Nestle to recall Maggi Noodles. Nestle India, Chairman & MD, Suresh Narayanan, in a 2017 interview to BusinessToday.in said how the Maggi Noodles crisis was the most challenging and dramatic situation in his entire professional career. NEW CONCERN UNLIKELY TO AFFECT INDIA UNIT The new controversy over ‘unhealthy’ food and drinks is unlikely to impact Nestle India as its portfolio is different from the parent company.
