Baby hippo Moo Deng gets Rs 2.5 crore Christmas gift from crypto billionaire

Moo Deng, a baby hippo who became an internet sensation earlier this year, has found an unexpected benefactor in cryptocurrency billionaire Vitalik Buterin. The Canadian entrepreneur and co-founder of Ethereum has donated over $290,000 to support Moo Deng’s care at Thailand’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo in what is nothing but a huge Christmas present for the 5-month-old pygmy hippo. “I very much look forward to seeing Moo Deng live long and prosper,” Buterin said in a letter to the director of the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi province, where Moo Deng resides. I am delighted to accept your invitation to be Moo Deng’s adoptive father while she grows up and to donate to the zoo in her name,” Buterin said in the letter.
