The research, published in the Medical Journal of Australia, looked at more than 1,600 men over six years diagnosed with prostate cancer that only required an "active surveillance" program to monitor whether the cancer became more aggressive. The regimen is referred to as "active surveillance" and is offered to men who are diagnosed with small or slow-growing prostate cancer so they can avoid invasive surgery and other burdensome treatments.
