Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Tuesday appointed IPS officer HS Revanna as the new Deputy Inspector General, Prisons, a day after transferring incumbent D Roopa to be the Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety in Bengaluru. “Revanna of 2001 IPS batch is transferred with immediate effect and posted as DIG Prisons in Bengaluru from being DIG, Police Headquarters here,” a state Department of Personnel order said. “They staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the warden’s office wanting Roopa to continue as DIG Prisons, as she had interacted with them recently and enquired about their welfare and facilities in the prison,” a jail official told IANS on the condition of anonymity.
