Head of Met's Black Police Association could be axed over 'racist' WhatsApp messages he allegedly sent during a three-year period
Daily MailThe Head of Met's Black Police Association could be sacked over 'racist' WhatsApp messages. Inspector Charles Ehikioya, who has served for 26 years, has been accused of sending 'misogynistic, racist, violent and otherwise inappropriate' texts between 2017 and 2020 He previously claimed he was racially harassed by two white colleagues when he was stopped while driving home from work Ehikioya's supporters claim he was targeted during an investigation into two officers who were dismissed for sending discriminatory messages on social media which included making fun of Katie Price's disabled son, Harvey, according to The Evening Standard. Andy George, president of the National Black Police Association, went to X/Twitter to call the allegations 'dubious' and that the case 'will show the corruption at play within the misconduct system'. The Met said the allegations against Insp Ehikioya amount to a breach of Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of equality and diversity, discreditable conduct, and challenging and reporting improper conduct In August 2020, Insp Ehikioya accused the force of exercising an 'abuse of power' when he was pulled over by two white officers 'for no other reason other than the fact that they have seen a black man driving a car', according to Metro.
