Rob Manfred says A’s, Rays need new stadiums soon

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred once again addressed the league's desire for the Oakland A's and Tampa Bay Rays to get ballpark deals done during a Thursday news conference. But MLB views Las Vegas as viable expansion site, so the work the A's are doing would benefit the league even if they remain in Oakland. Steve Berman, MLB writer: The A's face yet another important vote on June 30, when the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission decides whether to remove the Howard Terminal site from port designation. MLB wouldn't stand in the A's way if they ultimately decide to move to Las Vegas, but the league also knows that the Bay Area is a lucrative market and certain teams wouldn't be too pleased if the Giants became the only team in the region.
