DMK to set time frame for Governor to pass Bills
Deccan ChronicleChennai: The DMK would insist on the framing a code of conduct for the Governors, to be followed as long as the post continued, with a view to safeguarding the dignity of the gubernatorial position, and fixing a time frame for the clearing of Bills passed by the State legislature in the coming session of the Union Budget in Parliament, a meeting of the party’s Members of Parliament resolved on Wednesday. While the State government took care of the entire expenses of the Raj Bhavan with the tax money of the people of the State, the Governor would play politics like an opposition party leader, enter into disputes with the government on the appointment of Vice Chancellors of State universities and create universities without Vice Chancellors, the resolution said. The DMK MPs would demand the framing of a Code of Conduct for Governors, as long as the post was there, and fix a time frame of clearing Bills passed the Assembly, which was also a prayer in the case pending before the Supreme Court, the resolution said. While another resolution condemned the Union BJP government for its bid to amend the Wakf Board Act, another one demanded due financial allocation for the State in the Union Budget through new schemes, adequate disaster relief fund and signature projects, pointing out that the earlier Union Budget gave a short shrift to the State by note mentioning its name even once.
