Vijayawada:Special Court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences in Ongole has sentenced an accused to 20 years’ imprisonment and fined him ₹10,000. According to the police, Duddu Chinnabbai, 57, a resident of SC Colony at Santharavuru village in Chinaganjam mandal sexually assaulted a six-year-minor girl of the same village on March 20, 2018 after taking her to a secluded place. Based on a complaint on March 22, 2018, Chinaganjam police booked a case under Section 376 of IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Ongole Special POCSO Court Judge T. Raja Venkatadri pronounced the verdict on Wednesday after finding the accused guilty of the crime. Bapatla superintendent of police Tushar Dudi commended public prosecutor Y. Venkateswarulu and court police constable G. Nageswara Rao for ensuring conviction of the accused.
