
Kerala enhances biodiversity documentation with second volume of PBRs
The HinduLocal bodies in Kerala are in the process of updating the People’s Biodiversity Register. Twenty-nine local bodies, including 27 grama panchayats and two municipalities, have already published the second volume of the PBR and submitted it to the Kerala State Biodiversity Board. A few years ago, Kerala became the first State in the country to publish the first volume of the PBR across all local bodies. According to KSBB officials, the updated document submitted by 29 local bodies contains valuable insights into various aspects of biodiversity, including identification of resources, discoveries, traditional knowledge, ongoing changes, impact of climate change and previously unknown information, among other details. 10 in Kannur Among the districts, Kannur tops the chart with 10 local bodies — eight grama panchayats and two municipalities — having already submitted the second volume of the PBR to the KSBB.
