India TodayClearing doubts over the future of Tokyo Olympics, event's President Yoshiro Mori said on Tuesday that Japan would hold the Summer Olympics regardless of the Covid-19 pandemic situation. “We will hold the Olympics, regardless of how the coronavirus looks,” Mori said, adding that the discussion should focus on ways to hold the event and not whether the Olympics will happen. The International Olympic Committee and the Japanese organisers have decided to hold the Olympics from July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo this year. Japan has been hit less severely by the pandemic than many other advanced economies, but a recent surge in cases has spurred it to close its borders to non-resident foreigners and declare a state of emergency in Tokyo and major cities.
