He pointed out that while women are revered as goddesses in Hindu scriptures like the Shastras and Vedas, members of a community still claim the right to have multiple wives, engage in Halala, or practice Triple Talaq. I am taking an oath that this country will definitely bring a single law, and it will bring it very soon", said Justice Shekhar Yadav In his address, he also referred to the Supreme Court's landmark judgment in the 1985 Shah Bano case, which ruled that Section 125 CrPC, which pertains to maintenance, would apply to all citizens, no matter what religion they belong to.
