Guard John Wall, 31, says he’ll be happy not being main man and can help Clippers
LA TimesJohn Wall attends an NBA Summer League game Thursday in Las Vegas. “I kind of looked at the picture of like, where can I go I don’t have to be the John Wall from 2016 and have to carry the load and do all those and have the pressure on me?” he said Saturday in his first public comments since joining the Clippers. Good luck.” John Wall says he is healthy, happy to compete for a starting job and is excited to be on a deep Clippers roster with enough talent where “I don’t have to be Batman every night for us to win.” He added: “You tell me the 3rd-best defender is going to have to guard me? Like I said, nothing hard against those guys.” Wall watched the Clippers’ first game of summer league, a 94-76 win against Memphis, courtside inside Cox Pavilion on Saturday night while sitting near former Kentucky teammate and ex-Clippers center DeMarcus Cousins. Wall has already been taking part in workouts alongside such Clippers veterans in a Las Vegas suburb in recent days, part of what he called the process of building trust toward what he called “one goal, and trying to win a championship.” John Wall said hello to Jerry West and Steve Ballmer between quarters in Vegas.
