Rajasthan boy, 5, dies after being trapped in 150-foot-deep borewell for 56 hours
India TodayA five-year-old boy, who fell into a 150-foot-deep borewell in Rajasthan's Dausa, died after he was trapped inside it for 56 hours or over two days despite persistent efforts by rescue authorities to pull him out. However, when the digging efforts proved futile with soil falling on the boy, rescue personnel tied a rope around him and pulled him out in an unconscious state. The difficulty in capturing the boy's movements on camera due to steam underground and safety concerns for the rescue staff were also among the challenges in the operation, rescue personnel said. A large number of people had gathered to see the rescue operation as the rescue personnel raced against time to complete the digging at the earliest and rescue the minor, NDRF Commandant Yogesh Kumar said.
