Tripura High Court Seeks Updated Statistics Of HIV/ AIDS Patients In State
Live LawThe Tripura High Court recently asked the Tripura State AIDS Control Society to file updated statistics as regards the incidence of HIV/AIDS patients in the State including the youth to ascertain whether the steps being taken by it have led to improvement in arresting the upward trend of incidence of HIV/ AIDS in the State. The division bench of the Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice Biswajit Palit was hearing suo moto PIL on the issue wherein the Court was informed that the National Aids Control Organization has granted approval for establishing two new Facility-integrated ART Centres at Khowai and Gomati Districts and also for one new District Monitoring Unit. The Court was further apprised that Tripura State AIDS Control Society has been directed to seek additional budget approval under Annual Action Plan for Financial Year 2025-2026 for operationalisation of these sites. The Court was informed that the State AIDS Control Society has already established 24 Stand Alone Integrated Counseling & Testing Centre and 133 Facility Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre for screening and testing services.
