VHP, Bajrang Dal continue protests ahead of Diljit Dosanjh concert in Indore; BJP MLAs extend support

The Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad continued their protests against the sale of liquor and meat at singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, with some Bharatiya Janata Party legislators voicing their support for the demands. Tannu Sharma, Indore head of the VHP’s social harmony wing, told The Hindu that functionaries of these organisations had inspected the venue on Saturday, and found stalls and advertising materials for various liquor brands. The Collector gave us the assurance that these activities would not be allowed,” Mr. Sharma said, adding that some senior functionaries of the VHP and the Bajrang Dal had been deployed at the venue to keep vigil. “We won’t let them make udta Indore like Udta Punjab,” the VHP functionary said.
