Bloomberg: The China Show 11/07/2024
Bloomberg00:00 Half an hour away from the opens in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Shanghai are watching the China show. I mean, if there's a threat of tariffs here, do you think, you know, there's a people talking about there's a difference between the candidate Trump and what he will be as President Trump? We know he's talked about tariffs as high as 60%, and Trump could seek to negotiate another trade deal with China, or he might conclude that it's a waste of time since Beijing didn't purchase the American products that it pledged to buy in the Phase one deal they signed when he was president. But that doesn't mean they're letting this one go as freely as one would think based on the headline, because we are we understand that traders have told us that state banks are actually now in the market selling dollars to maybe cushion some of the the strain that's coming through. But at the press briefing when he's going to be grilled on questions on what a Trump win means for rates for inflation, for growth, that's when they're going to hit a little bit of a, I guess, messy situation because they don't want to talk about politics most of the time, but they might have to.
