Increasing use of AI in IP raises ethical concerns, say experts at a conference in Visakhapatnam

The Hindu

The increasing use of artificial intelligence in intellectual property raises significant ethical concerns, said legal and IP experts during an international conference on ‘Artificial Intelligence & Intellectual Property Rights: Unveiling the Future’ jointly organised by GITAM School of Law, in collaboration with Aequitas Victoria Research Centre, here on Friday. Prof. Giorgi Amiranashvil, Faculty of Law, Ivane Javakhishvili Tblisi State University,, discussed the Georgian Intellectual Property System, and the approach the European Union has undertaken to address and regulate the issues arising out of the use of AI. SRM School of Law Dean Sree Sudha said that licensing AI related patents, algorithms and software is increasingly important. Lakshmana Rao said that the conference explores the evolving intersection of AI and intellectual property rights, addressing critical issues of innovation, ownership, and the protection of intellectual assets.
