Canberra program helping children and parents develop good eating habits early

ABC

In short: A Canberra program is providing mothers with nutritional guidance to help them navigate the overwhelming volume of content available that can offer inconsistent advice. Leanne Elliston, a nutritionist and one of the program leads, said expectant mothers need to be thinking about their child's nutrition from pregnancy. "There are so many myths and misconceptions in society around food and nutrition, both during pregnancy and also in the early stages of introducing solids," Ms Elliston said. Misinformation and influencers causing some parents unnecessary stress Cassie Maye says during pregnancy she was bombarded on social media with posts from influencers saying her baby needed a number of specific food products. She pointed to a recent example of mother's being convinced online they needed to buy special 'toddlers milk', as just one instance of parents being influenced to buy products that "just aren't necessary".
