Ruben Amorim declares himself ‘the right guy’ to turn Man United around

MANCHESTER, England — New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim declared himself a “dreamer” on Friday and said he can succeed where so many have failed before him by reviving the storied English soccer team. Amorim, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, is United’s sixth permanent managerial hire since club great Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. Former Sporting Lisbon coach Amorim follows David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag in trying to return the club to the summit of English and European soccer. We have to win games to win time and then we have to win titles.” Amorim, who has won two Portuguese league titles, dismissed the idea that managing United has become the impossible job since Ferguson’s retirement.
