Centre to generate 20 lakh jobs via 7 mega textile plants in these states
Live MintAs part of the Make in India initiative, the Central government has announced plans to set up seven mega textile parks in the country. Announced under the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel scheme, the seven plants will be set up in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In a series of tweets on March 17, PM Modi had explained “The PM MITRA mega textile parks will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for the textiles sector, attracts investment of crores and create lakhs of jobs. It will be a great example of 'Make in India' and 'Make For the World.” Union Minister Piyush Goyal says the government envisages investing almost ₹70,000 crores in the parks with a goal of generating almost 20 lakh jobs.
