'Chains Were Opened When...': Jaishankar On Deportation Of Illegal Immigrants 'In Handcuffs' From US
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday spoke on the issue of deportation of Indians from the United States. He said that it is the obligation of all countries to take back their nationals if they are found to be living illegally abroad. Jaishankar further said that the deportation by the US are organised and executed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement authority, and the SOP of deportation by aircraft used by ICE provides for the use of restraint. Speaking in Rajya Sabha on Indian citizens deported from the US, EAM S Jaishankar says, ".It is the obligation of all countries to take back their nationals if they are found to be living illegally abroad." Honourable Chairman Sir, we are, of course, engaging the US Government to ensure that the returning deportees are not mistreated in any manner during the flight," Jaishankar added.
