Drink driving cases in Delhi see uptick of 27% this year
Hindustan TimesThe Capital has seen a 27% increase in the number of drink driving cases in the first six months this year as compared to the corresponding period last year. Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, states that if a person is found driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of more than 30 grams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, then the driver can be fined, imprisoned, or both. “Citizens are encouraged to promptly report any instances of suspected drink driving, thereby contributing to the collective effort to create safer roads for everyone,” Dhaliwal added. Prince Singhal, the founder of the “Community Against Drunken Driving”, said that the sale of alcohol has increased by 14% last year and the obvious fallout of this increase is drink driving.
