Accused Convicted in Caste-Based Assault Case in Srikakulam

Visakhapatnam: The special court for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes has sentenced N. Mukunda Reddy to three years of imprisonment for a caste-based assault that occurred in April 2022. Phanikumar, sentencing Mukunda Reddy under Section 3 of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes Act to three years of simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000. According to court documents, on April 19, 2022, the complainant was travelling on CC Road after accompanying local MLC Duvvada Srinivasa Rao to Modi Bhaskara Rao’s residence. Around 7:30 pm, Mukunda Reddy allegedly approached the complainant on a Pulsar motorcycle at high speed, without using the horn.
