NSW Police set up strike force to find anti-lockdown protesters after thousands shut down Sydney CBD
ABCNSW Police Minister David Elliott says 57 people have been charged after attending an anti-lockdown protest in Sydney, and that a strike force has been established to identify others who were there. In a statement, NSW Police said it "recognises and supports" the right to exercise free speech and peaceful assembly but the protest was in breach of the current COVID-19 public health orders. Mr Hazzard has previously said "wacko views" leading people to flout health orders would put the state's COVID-19 recovery at risk. Late on Saturday, a Victoria Police spokesperson said two more people would be charged on summons "for offences including assault emergency worker and refuse to state name and address".
