Rohan Bopanna's comments came after it was reported that the AITA had requested the International Tennis Federation to pair up Sumit Nagal and him for the doubles event at Tokyo Games after the youngster made the cut for the men's singles event earlier in July. However, Bopanna said the ITF responded to his query, saying it never received any nominations for Nagal and Bopanna pairing and that the global tennis body made it clear that no new nominations were accepted after the deadline of June 22 Speaking to Sports Today, Bopanna on Monday stressed that the AITA chief Anil Dhupar had kept telling him until Sunday that the ITF had accepted the new nomination of Nagal and Bopanna for India's men's doubles at the Olympics. Bopanna explains his stance on qualification row "I know on the 16th of July when Sumit Nagal had got in, AITA told me they had withdrawn Divij Sharan's name and entered my name with Sumit.
