ISL 2024-25: Subhasish, Manvir find the net as Mohun Bagan downs city-rival Mohammedan SC
Mohun Bagan Super Giant strengthened its position on top of the current standings with a 4-0 win over its city rival Mohammedan Sporting, in an Indian Super League 2024-25 fixture at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday. Left-back Subhasish Bose and winger Manvir Singh shared the four goals for Mohun Bagan which increased its stock to 43 points from 19 matches to go 10 points clear of its nearest challenger FC Goa. Mohun Bagan doubled its lead off another corner in the 20th minute when Manvir headed home Jason Cummings’ flag-kick. Mohammedan Sporting was reduced to 10 men during first half’s injury-time when its Uzbek midfielder Mirjalol Kasimov was sent off for kicking the Mohun Bagan defender Tom Aldred. Manvir Singh found his second and Mohun Bagan’s fourth in the 53rd minute when he diverted home a cross from Cummings with another headed goal.
