Bandi Sanjay Kumar asks govt. to continue Potti Sreeramulu’s name for Telugu University
The HinduUnion Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday condemned the State government’s reported move to ‘remove’ the name of freedom fighter Potti Sreeramulu from the Hyderabad-based Telugu University, alleging that it tantamounts to insulting a great patriot and an ardent Gandhian. But removing Potti Sriramulu’s name is an insult,” he said, after paying tributes to the statue of Potti Sriramulu on his birth anniversary in Karimnagar on Sunday. Hailing Potti Sreeramulu as a great patriot and Gandhian, Mr. Sanjay Kumar urged the government to restore his name to the Telugu University, after receiving a memorandum from a delegation of Arya Vysya Association seeking his immediate intervention. He further said that though hailing from the Andhra region, Potti Sreeramulu was a freedom fighter.
