Evidence of the 'most similar planet to Earth ever found' spotted in old data
Daily MailA planet with a similar surface temperature and size to the Earth has been discovered 300 light years away, orbiting in its star's habitable zone. It's been described as 'the most similar planet to Earth ever found' in data from the Kepler space telescope observations by the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. It was discovered in old data from the Kepler telescope Unfortunately it orbits a red dwarf star, known for stellar flare-ups that could make a planet's environment challenging for the development of life, researchers claim. This newly discovered exoplanet is in its star’s habitable zone and is the closest to Earth in size and temperature found yet in Kepler's data 'The more data we get, the more signs we see pointing to the notion that potentially habitable and Earth-size exoplanets are common around these kinds of stars,' said Vanderburg.
