"Face Wash and Go": Innovative Initiative to prevent accidents
Deccan ChronicleAnantapur:Anantapur police have launched an innovative initiative called “Face Wash and Go” to reduce accidents on NH 44, especially during the peak hours of 3-4 am when drivers are prone to sleepiness. Police teams have been stopping vehicles during this time, directing drivers to get out and wash their faces as a simple but effective remedy to combat drowsiness and prevent major accidents on the highway. After investigating the reasons behind these mishaps, SP P. Jagadish discovered that drivers were continuing to drive despite feeling sleepy, leading to accidents such as head-on collisions or being struck by other vehicles while crossing from state roads to the national highway. He said, "We have directed police stations near National Highway roads to play an active role in educating drivers and providing water for them to wash their faces, helping to prevent accidents."
